Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park had a unique ‘Fight Night’, a one-night white-collar boxing event for a charitable cause to bring smiles to children suffering from cleft lips and palates. The event was in partnership with the Marriott Thailand Business Council and Operation Smile Thailand, a non-profit foundation in Thailand, employing qualified Thai medical professionals since 1997 to provide free surgeries and smiles to underprivileged children with facial deformities.
Hosting a Fight Night is a truly spectacular way to celebrate a company milestone or throw a great corporate event integrated with a meaningful CSR impact. Pay homage to the local Thai boxing scene and host a fun gathering for amateur boxers and a large group of spectators to cheer them on for a Bangkok adrenaline-fueled night. Another unique CSR programme for your next company event is Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur’s Culinary Workshop, ‘The League of Kitchens’. This event played host to 40 culinary experts from Marriott International properties across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and The Maldives for a 4-day workshop designed to encourage the skills and talents of these expert culinary connoisseurs in an uplifting, competitive setting where they could inspire and be inspired.
Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur ended the workshop with a grand finale: the fourth day of the workshop features an interactive, fun and insightful cooking session where chefs can get together to showcase their skills and creativity. This was then parlayed into a lunch feast for 100 orphans and stateless children from Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih, one of the only schools in Kuala Lumpur offering education for homeless or underprivileged children of all ages. The initiative can be a great idea for your next event too, a combination of culinary creativity and community service! Gather around the best culinary teams in your company as they compete against each other in epic cook-offs, raise money and see which team is the first to sell out all their dishes. 4) Mai Khao Marine Turtle Release Ceremony

At JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, you can “Nurture our World”: the first of four Marriott International’s Sustainability & Social Impact Pillars. The hotel usually organizes Marine Turtle Release Ceremonies every year around the Songkran Festival time. More recently, The 10th Mai Khao Marine Turtle Release Ceremony took place on 27 July 2019 in celebration of the King Rama X’s birthday anniversary. The large turnout included hundreds of well-wishers, Phuket residents and guests of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa. Guests can gather by the hotel’s private beachfront and release 40 green turtles, not only witnessing but being a part of the turtles’ new lives in the ocean. In Thai culture, turtles are believed to be symbols of patience, wisdom and long fruitful life and releasing captive animals helps gain the best luck and brings prosperity to life.
The hotel has exclusive on-site access to The Mai Khao Marine Turtle Shelter and Education Center, a foundation dedicated to rescuing the ever-dwindling number of marine turtles as well as providing safe care for the overall marine environment. Launched in 2002, The Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation uses funds and awareness to carry out conservation environmental projects to protect the lives of endangered sea turtles which nest on the Mai Khao beach area. With a Turtle Release Ceremony, your company event could raise funds to make all the difference in the local biodiversity. Funds raised will go to village, reef and beach clean-ups with local communities, schools and universities.
